Climate Change, Climate Change, Climate Change

I have been away for absolutely ages, but I haven't stopped thinking about the blog and the issues with which it deals. I'll definitely be posting more fequently again now, so watch this space...

In the meantime, here's a couple of things I have seen in the last few days, very briefly:

more worries over the rising levels of methane reported in the Guardian, and more here.

And good news, though slightly weird, Richard Branson has called for a more green approach. He wants industries, including aviation, to tackle climate change. It's odd, coming from a man who aims to zoom tourists into space, but I welcome the money he'll pour into the cause. I wish its provenance was less damaging, but Virgin were always going to continue flying people about the world on unneccessary trips and making money from it, so the donated money is still a bonus. And beyond that, I welcome the publicity it will generate. Whether or not his motives are charitable or green is almost irrelevant. If the effects are positive, I'm happy with that. And if it increases pressure on other businesses to follow suit, then all the better. Here's Guardian coverage, and the Telegraph's report isn't wholly complimentary and is irritating in places, but flags up useful points.

And lastly, for now, Margaret Becket has suggested that Climate Change should be put to the top of the United Nations priority list. The foreign secretary sees it as the most important issue facing us, representing 'an ever-growing threat to international security'. The Independent covered it here, but I don't suppose this link will last long. Couldn't find much other coverage, though, sorry... I'll update if I find more.
